Tried taking this off the other day but it wouldn't budge, anyone know how its ment to come off??

The unit turns anti clock wise about 10 degrees to release - Can be really right if stuck.

I use a U shaoped tool or you can use two strong screwdrivers against each other - careful of slipping though.

Old screwdriver wedged into one of the slots and some gentle persuasion with a hammer usually does it for me...

…Use an old bit of wood (hammer handle or similar) just in case any fuel vapour is around, particularly if the 'O' ring is damaged…..

Check the condition of the 'O' ring, replace if there is the slightest doubt about it (cheap from VAG or GSF), make sure the surfaces are clean and put a LITTLE bit of grease on the ring when replacing it….
I put on an old 'O' ring once and was plagued by fumes and a leaking tank till I renewed it…!!!!

You may have a lift pump attached (as shown below) if it's a GTI cabby….the 'O' ring is arrowed here….
