Bulb (led) behind cigarette lighter
I have a led bulb hanging down behind the cigarette lighter. There is another wire going into the back of the lighter, but where does the led plug into? I have no actual lighter in the socket at present but i have tested the socket and it works with a dustbuster vacuum thing
It's a 1981 Gti if that helps. I've looked at the Haynes electrical diagram and it mentions fresh air controls light??
Any ideas where it should plug into?

If you feel behing the dash you'll feel the cigarette socket, there is a hole attached to it - in the same moulding and thats where the bulb pushes into.
There is also another bulb for the heater controls and that plugs into the rectangle panel that goes across the front of the dash.
Have I explained that properly????

Cool cheers for that i'll have a good look tomorrow. Having thought about it i seem to remember seeing a moulded round hole on the back of the heater controls when i put the clocks back in the other day

sorry to dig this up but does anyone know the bulb types for these in dash lights? Is it the same bulb as the small light in the headlight switch?

on some it is yes, depending on age the bulbs are soldered in rather than push fit. you can get them from decent motor factors, often referred to as a 'grain of wheat' type bulb
