What did you do to your MK1 today?
Or I've been reading about the citigolf 'velociti' dashboard retrofit recently, which looks similar to the 6N?

Thanks, here by us the 5-doors Mk1's are in oversupply, everybody wants a 2-door. The 2-doors were basically sold as the poverty spec versions of the popular 5-door versions, you bought a 2-door if you could not afford the 5-door. Nobody would have guessed back then that in 30 years time a good condition 2-door would fetch double the money a 5-door would go for. Add to that, all the Citi Golfs were 5-door as well, no 2-doors in the range despite numerous appeals to Volkswagen South Africa…RichardHall said
That Is a very nice car, I am really liking all the small bumper five doors that are starting to appear recently.Torker said
Fitted Lenso BSX's to my LS after discovering that the mags that came on the car didn't have spigot rings fitted.

HAD THE GOLF RESPAYED BY A BUM GARAGE HAD TO BITE THE BULLET AND TAKE IT TO A PROPER PAINT SHOP FOR A QUOTE ,BEANS ON TOAST ALL NEXT WEEK
Not good , but thought the beans on toast comment was quite funny.
Don't know if this counts, but tried my spot weld drills on the mk1 shell, so I can get the panels I need off without cutting them off

The original wiring loom still had a Blaupunkt shaped power connector but had unrequired blue/grey dash lighting and no permanent +12v feed. I kept the connector inserting connectors to tap into the ign +12v and earth.
The set works really well inc the tape player, always a worry buying 30 year old stuff from ebay. I need to tidy up or re-reroute the wiring at the rear as it doesn't just quite click into place. It's also a very tight fit between the headset and around the dash facia. Another job I need to do is replace one of the backlights in the centre console VDOs, so whilst that's all in bits I should be able to reach up behind the stereo to move the wiring out of the way.
The front right speaker is a possible problem, I've twiddled the balance and fader but its doesn't seem as loud as the other three.
