Hi,
Could anyone tell me if the shell off a cab is the same as a tin top. Obviously the roof part is different, but I don't need that part. Basically I need to know if the front end is the same, and the floor up to the back seat part. Also the part at the bottom of windscreen.
Are the wings the same as well.
Need some body shell and been offered cab shell to cut up at decent price. So can keep it all Vw and not repo parts.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Yeah, it's all same mate. Not sure about rear arches and obviously the rear quarters are different (I think )

Thanks, yeah I've since found out they are basically the same, apart from extra stiffening on inner wings, bulkhead, and along the arches.
It's same age as mine as well, so will probably get it, saves using repo panels.
He said I can have full shell, with tank and rear beam, instead of cutting it there, only £20 extra too.

no its not at all!
there is a lot more to a cabby extra reinforcment to the front of the floor and the sills, thats one reason a cabby carpet doesnt fit a tin top.

For patches it will be fine! If he needs the whole floor pan, sills, inner sills and rear seat area then it time to scrap the shell!!!
The front end what he wants is the same!

It's just the sections of the floor that the seat brackets run over that is needed. Sills not really needed, as already done.
Most of the rest will be needed from the front end, inner wings etc and that's just going to be patches hopefully, full front panel maybe needed, but possibly just the bottom half of it.
To be honest I thought that most of the backend would be different, from the rear seat back.

That's exactly what I want it for, just need to make sure at least some of the panels/sections will do the job .
