Warm start....
…lately the GTI would start in the morning by virtually just showing it the ignition key….but for the rest of the day it needed turning over a bit, and would splutter and miss for a few seconds….even if it rested for 10 or 12 hours !! But next morning….perfect.
Checked the injectors and the middle 2 were jetting / dribbling.
2 new injectors (Dave at Volksline was clearing his old stock while the GTI was in for MOT - ?20 the pair - unopened - perfect timing or what ??) and the 'Old Girl' starts instantly, perfectly, all the time.
Having a good week so far ……(see other thread about 'condensatio in spots'….)

Cool, wonder if mine is suffering the same as mine often takes a while to start from warm, and unless left at least 18 - 24 hrs before starting it will always splutter and run rough for a about 10 seconds or so, but once past that she's sweet as (apart from the really rattlly tappets, which I really must get sorted out!)
I might have to give your injector test a go and see what happens, mind you I may just renew the injectors anyway, as I'm 90% sure they are still the origenal ones on the car. Dave at volksline got any more of those injectors?
Mike.
