my mk1 golf, black on teledials..
The car is beautiful. Comes on Porsche Teledials and hottuning coilovers with a bit of stretch on the tyres.
Interior is very retro too! Pretty much everything is brown or tan.. except a few little things that are black which will need replacing! The seats are nice but a bit shagged so a re-trim is in order at some point
The plan is to stick the KR engine and stuff in it during Summer. The car is being kept at home while I'm at Uni though.
The car does need alot of work though… It was originally that tan/browny goldish colour but had a cheapy respray in black, just doing the outside.. so the inside of the doors, interior, engine bay, etc. is still the original colour. Considering a full respray inside and out at some point as I can't live with it!
The last owner was reversed into by an old man.. putting a nice big dent in the OSF wing which needs replacing. The car comes with a pattern wing which will need spraying. The NSF wing has some rust and an ugly hole for an aerial, which needs replacing too!
All the plastics have been badly painted black and are all chipped/flaking, etc. so they'll all be getting tidied up and sorted
From a distance the car is absolutely stunning. I've always been in love with this car and thinks it looks amazing! But when you get up close there's a lot that bugs me with it, which I'll be sorting out!
Oh, it's about to get a full alarm system including full remote central locking installed too. Expensive, but worth it!
Well here's the pictures!
Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think

you should leave the dent in the wing. it adds character.

Here's some questions I posted on my local VW forum. You guys may be able to help too!
Anyone know how much a re-upholster would cost on average? I'm thinking suede for the main sections with leather bolsters and maybe white piping.. just got to look into costs!
Which exhaust system would I buy to mate onto the conversion manifold? Would it be for just a mk1 gti? I won't be buying one until the conversion is nearing it's beginning.
putting mk2 clocks in.. I know that you have to do some re-wiring for it.. but do they slot into the dash without any brackets having to be made up, etc. ?
in terms of fuelling, what will I need? Gti fuel tank, K-jet fuel pump, accumulator (whatever that is), fuel filter and fuel lines? Are the fuel lines special? When I converted my 1.6 carb Jetta to a 1.8 8v (mk2) I just bought 10 metres of something like 8mm fuel hose and that connected up to everything fine..
Am I right in thinking, to mount the engine to the mk1 all the mounts are the same except the gearbox one? But to solve this you just unbolt the mount from the mk1 engine and bolt it onto the KR box?
What engine parts or anything else would you recommend replacing before putting the new engine in? I was thinking a new clutch kit, cambelt, all fluids obviously, temperature sensor? Inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets? Coil, plugs, leads, battery, earths..
Around how much should I pay to have the inlet manifold and the rocker cover powder coated?
Thanks!
oh and a full set of 4 delocked chrome door handles are on their way from bigboystoys. Worth paying the extra for metal chrome than plastic
