a gentle run in only leads to rings not sealing properly, oil passing the piston rings and combustion pressure leaking past the rings.

arrived home this morning @ 4.30am
drove the MK1 off the trailer i bet the neighbours loved that sounded at 4am !!
so need to get the T4 Clutch sorted
MK1 needs some minor work and them a final map doing once the Crank sensor is working correctly.
The new Mtech Megasquirt V3 ECU is alot better than the Microsquirt so i'm running Megasquirt 1 software the loom had to be modified to suit but alot of items needs attention i.e. grounds for the sensor etc.

One thing i learned alot yesterday from the visit to Mtechautomotive they lads their are very very helpful and they seem to get alot of vehicles that other tuners have failed to get running

its ok i only let them rev it to 4k , i must admit they were very helpfull they seem to get alot of other peoples projects to sort out, the MK1 Escort that was being picked was one of them that someone else had started and they finished off.
i've heard alot of horror stories from alot of places but i think its how you deal with them. i turned up with a list of 5 items for them to sort and we got them all done!
i had a funny feeling the Mircosquirt wou;dn't be right for the NASP engine and was right so half expected changing to the V3 Unit.
still lots of work to finish it off , but need to get the T4 Sorted first as its my daily driver.

Brookster, still think those trumpets look too high and will be sucking hot air (if they can get any jammed against the bonnet), what about a custom aluminum 'v' plated manifold between the existing one and the block to turn the angle down?
the trumpets will be fine, the inlet will have an Alloy air intake from the front grill to the underside of the trumpets so that only cool air will get to them.

Almost completed. [:y:]
Bonnet fitted and bonus !! it shuts without cutting it or removing the 120mm Trumpets []
New Vents put in the Bumper to assist flow to the new radiator with it mounted so low 6 x 50mm holes drilled.
How low is that Schrick Sump ???
might have to re-mount the number plate now more central, may also make it 8 x 50mm holes too.
Alloy air scoop mounted off the top of the radiator to make now.

What compression do you get with abf and kr combo?
Great work.
You will get 11.5 : 1 with ABF & KR Head
but i am running higher compression with my Engine / Piston spec.
The Engine is Complete now did a rolling road at Chip Wizards and the Engine put out 198.7 BHP first run and 197. bhp second run from 5000rpm to 7500rpm good result but it required more fule from 5k upto 8200rpm
Brooky mk1 2.1 16v on itb-s, expected power 200+ bhp, work in progress
May be upgrading the Throttle bodies due to bonnet clearance to These from AT Power , my mate runs their DCOE ones 256bhp NASP from a 2036cc 16v 9A

Just Read through the entire thread.
A Very intresting build as when i bought my mk1 it came with the ABF engine on ZX6R carbs running a 1.6 GTI Short Ratio Box. Have always had issues with the dizzy cap as i think its from a KR to avoid the Brake Resevior. Fitting the Megasquirt would solve this i reckon.
Did you buy the Nitrous Kit online from WON and fit it yourself? I read that the engine can stand around 50hp more but you installed 150hp?
Also did you buy new Big End Bearings and Shells when you converted it to a 2.1L? Im struggling to know what gearbox to fit atm, as the one i have is completey insane and i cant put the power down with such short ratios.
10/10 for the great work and time you have built into your car from over the years
Cheers Gary
