I was under the impression that this is a democratic site with paid and none paying members surly we need to have a vote on a subject like this?
we need to ask why none of the moderators have bothered to respond to this thread?
the club if not careful could be construed as a members members club if you know what i mean
how do you become a moderator anyway? who chooses them and why don't other regular members get a say on who they are?
I feel wooders would be a good moderator to give it balance.
my view is swearing isn't needed but it depends on which words are used? im sure no one these days could be offended by the word sh*t or cr*p but other words such as B*****d are easy to see offence in.
I do think and automatic word changer on posts would be a good idea just in case you slip up now and then
just my thoughts on the subject
See you later then…will miss you….

i think it has alot to do wth if your face fits!!!
I think there's an element of truth in this. The club has (deliberately) set itself a higher standard than almost all the other VW forums and clubs around. The forum was originally set up on the principles of being family friendly. It seems a good enough premise to keep up, since it also encourages reasoned debate and mainly genuine/worthwhile/valuable contributions from knowledgeable members. Compare to the vast amount of info on CGTI forum, which is (once looked into) not terribly accurate and could be seen as misleading. Also some of the posts allowed there contain so much swearing and poor English that they're barely understandable.
There are a number of people on 2 strikes (for language) and who don't seem willing to change their ways. We don't disclose this info publically, however.
Also bear in mind that in the past year or more, we've seen a big growth (around 80% increase) in the membership of the club, this 'popularisation' probably involves more younger than older members. Another area which we could (probably have) further increased popularity is by being more open to modified cars. With the committee shake up in August, there's now at least 2 committee members (Ant5 and I) who are strongly into modified Mk1s as well as original. We're not changing the club's ethos - to help preserve original Mk1s. But personally I think we should make modified cars equally welcome too. There's a good opportunity to build up a decent technical resource on the popular modifications, and also some more involved ones.
The committee or moderators hadn't commented so far on this thread (I answered a couple of concerns by PM) because we wanted to listen to the views of the club members. All views, particularly those of the paying members, are welcome.
