Re: i'm gay....
you know i cant read this without it sounding drunk, its only missing the odd hick-up here and there, but the price guide grip may have a point, any car is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.penny said
or very drunk
fair play england, gave it their all, my question is that is the golf mk1 price guide really valid??
I really don't think the price guide id doing anyone any favours, for instance, people think non gti woth s1's think they are worth the eareth, they are only worth the earth if they are mint!!!!!!!!!
s1 parts, how easy are they to come across - not at all!!! So price accordingly thankk you,
campaigns, common as a lying politicain, thank you, so why the price increase?? they are not rare!!!!
non sunroof 83'; GTi yes rare!!!!!
Pre 79' GTi's rare!!!!!
pre 79 anything, rare!!!
Had the chance of owning a mint yeellow 77' auto with the chrome bumpers and i passed, gutted|!!!!
Anyway, i don;t belaive the price guide is valid, the market has been very different, all beit, people over paying on a lot of items.
Bed now, for the night is young and i'm cdunk goodnight

As a buyer youve got to understand that the seller wants the best price while you want the lowest price and then compromise.

Do you want to monitor prices that cars actually sell at, then compile a new price guide, based on actual transactions, rather than opinions etc? Its not perfect, its a guide, and as such its useful for some.
Thats a plan!!

Realistically, if the price guide as it is (warts and all) were replaced, it would have to be with something better. And the only way I can think, is for someone to 'price watch' over a period of time and build up data based on actual sales which occurred. Ideally it would need to be detailed (for example, record the colour, spec, mileage, location, details on condition) and then the data anonymised (ie so its not personally identifiable). If the club officially put its name behind it, this might probably help with obtaining the required information, for example we could make contact with buyers and sellers and ask them to provide it (with the reassurances it would be kept confidential, etc).
Also, it really needs doing for cabbys too, since they don't even have a price guide (yet).
So, are you still interested? Or anyone else?

Maybe better having the whole club chipping in rather than resting on one persons shoulders, could see a broader range of cars as one person looking will not see as many as maybe 500?

20-30, at the moment its 26 (4 classified ads) so it should
not be too hard to keep an eye on them.
It never really goes above or below these figures, with a 50/50
split of Tins / cabbys.
intesrstingly spares varys from 17-30 pages as people break
whole cars, and list them all on the same day, so they all
finish on the same day. at the mo its 20 pages including
whole cars.

the problem there is gauging the quality of the vehicle being sold, in relation to the price recieved.
