Exhaust Broke :( Help!
anyway i drove away and then realised upon winding the windows down that it was WAY to loud.. anyway i pull over, check under the car and a part of the exhaust looks kinda like a spring and one of the coils has become disattached from the rest.
You can just about see it here:

checked GSF, the onyl bits they list under the MK1 Golf are:
21336 CORRUGATED PIPE G1 1.1 & 1.3 8/79 >12/83 11.25
and
21322 MANIFOLD PIPE-FLEXIBLE G1 1.1 & 1.3 8/79 >12/83 9.85
These are the only two that list your description, but i have a gti.. is that a problem?

Great diagrams, I hadn't been to www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk before excellent site and excelent prices.
As it happens I discovered yesterday that I need a new centre connecting pipe for my 1.1 and was concerned it would be difficult/expensive to get - it's ?15 at bodyshop but ?13 Delivery hurts as I run my car on a shoestring (4th car !).
Rang my local exhaust place who said no problem ?15 fitted, they also suggested ringing the local Partco (often listed as Unipart) who are their supplier - wish I'd known when I was picking up bits for a service in there yesterday.
Oh well.
Glad to hear you got sorted procalx.

Also, engine mounts if worn, allow the engine to move around too much and the poor old exhaust system usually suffers the most when this happens. Oh, and you lose traction.
