My O20 'box is now cable change! MORE PICS
Initial thought were that it felt fantastic, until I could not get 4th on the bypass - GRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNDDDD CRUUUUNCCHH ops:
A bit of adjusting and it now seems better, though after spending 6 hours fitting it, I'd had enough, so final fettling will be done another day!
Cables are a little longer than I had thought, so are a bit "Looped" inside the car, rather than running flat along the tunnel!
Will try and get some pics of it all in the car and post them up in a day or two, though here are a couple of the linkages and brackets being made up on my spare box (Obviously the wood is no more!):
The actual linkage arms have been made with threaded bar using rod end bearings on either end for nice smooth movement!
I know - A well set up Mk1 linkage with new bushes is really good, but I just wanted to be different!
Let me know what you think!
AL.

What advantage does this give you AL ?
Did you make all those brakets from scratch ?
Yeah - All made from scratch…
Gear change now has less play in it, though a tidy rod change set-up is probably as good.
Main advantage for me is stick position. Shifter is now further back and higher up. Can adjust this too, as much as the cables will allow…

Need to re-fit the carpet etc. It will look a bit neater then.

Nice and smooth and very positive compared to how it was on the rod change stuff. To say I am happy would be an understatement.
The forward/backward throw could be a little shorter, but I can look at sorting that out another time. I think I will leave it as it is and drive it for a bit to see if it develops any teething troubles!
