Lambo Style Doors
I think that LSD are the leaders in the market, but they only go back as far as the MK2. Dunno how similar the mk1 and mk2 are, anyone know
Cheers

Due to the fact that the done thing just now seems to be putting the Mk1 back to as STD as possible and the original the example the better, I feel id like to do something different. We have all seen Euro MK1's, st Edt 1+2 Mk1's, Mk1's with body kits and painted in all the colours of the rainbow.
I know it?s not everyone?s cup of tea, but I?m planning to bring this current project kicking and screaming into 2006.
I Appreciate the MK1 Golf more than most, I?ve have had many over the years and have a big love for all you guys into restoration. But it?s all done to personnel taste the world would be a boaring place if we all drove 1983 Mars Red Mk1 GTI's.

Most of the Ed38 cars have style but retain the original features smoothed and crafted into a cool car with retro looks not something from fast and furious.
IMO they look incredable stupid and take it from someone who has driven many lamborghini's they are very impractical to use and are awkward to get in and out of, some you even need to be double jointed to get under and then into the car.

I agree with the fact if if all cars were the same this would be a boring ol'world but I do think this mod is abit ott on what is now a classic car, I can't see many mk1 escorts and cortinas sporting this mod for the 2006 season  If you look back through time you will see that every thing that could be done has mainly been done to a mk1 over the years so give em a break and leave it alone.

I have a passion for MK1 golfs i owned my first at the age of 15, i appreciate the look of the original cars but its just not my thing. Just cause the MK1 now has classic status dosent mean they cannot or SHOULD not be modified. If we look at the rest of the VW scene, the older and more classic bettle are heavily modded.
I remeber years ago people saying that a G60 engine in a Mk1 was abit odd. Just beacuse the a car has a few modifications dosnt mean that it wont retain its original features. And take it from me ive driven both a lamborghini and mclearen mecrededs and didnt find it akward car at all, the doors open gracefully and leave ample room to enter and exit the car.
Your entitled to your opinion, but like i said if all MK1's were the same it would be a very dull scene indeed.

I'd just be worried about trying to reinforce the bulkhead and door jambs to support the doors at these awkward angles. It's bad enough that the cowl is already prone to wiggling on a Cabriolet. :dontknow:

Go for it mate. If your cars modified then why not?
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

Contacted the leader in the market for lambo doors and they have just finished the kit for the MK1 last week.
Its a bolt on kit that requires very little modification, no welding or cutting. Very impressive bit of kit……….
