Therefore it went for bodywork locally.
See Facebook page of Classofthe60's
Before and after shots.
But he didn't have paint facility
So it's now elsewhere.
Supposed to be out Yesterday but as agreed no rush and other work was a priority.
I think New Year will tell more
So today I dreamed about what I did to my mk1
don't we all
What's next?

Good news - found why I seemed to have a small leak.
Bad news - might need a new rad. Boooo
Tiny little leak from the plastic under where the top hose attaches. Might be a leaky hose but looks like a crack is more likely where the fan cowling bolts on. Hopefully get some time Sunday to whip the cowling off and have a good look. Prefer to change a show then the rad but we will see.
On the up side. It started. Roll on spring time.

Caster seems ok..apart from water entering through window seal so little bit of moisture inside, and green algae starting on the roof where rain gathers. Washes down with some washing products and left in winter sun.

Can't believe that you were sitting in that much mud….
And all I did today was Drive mine Topless… ….
I know right…
But so wanted to get this filth out.
Wet vac didn’t do much really.
So it was time to scrub in the tub.
Come amazingly clean.
Just need to put them back together.
It’s been nice enough here for top down too.
But not managed it.

That is the one advantage of Leather or Vinyl over cloth centers… a Wipe and swipe, or Deep Cleaning. I can remember cleaning the Velour on my Diesel after about 10 years of service to me…. Yuck, but they too came out looking minty new.

Went for my yearly hope and pray meeting with the MOT man today. It got a quick rub over with fast detailer to look good and impress the tester.

(But it was too cold to drop the roof without extra clothing, that I didn't have with me.)

I then fitted shortened bump stops as described (by Bert) in an old post on here from 2009.
Hopefully now the the Eibach springs/Bilstein shocks will stop bottoming out

Finally finished the exhaust, a new basal centre section and back box and new rubbers fitted.

As hoped the shorter bump stops have dramatically changed the harshness of the ride.
Even my wife commented that the car felt more comfortable than before and she did not even realise i had changed anything.

Getting them hose clips off is possibly the most frustrating job I've done on the car so far, doesnt help they were poking the wrong way to get a grip on them

That is where the ones that have the wire reach are for, and I have been through about 4 different ones over the years as the ratchet catch gets worn out.
I inherited a pair similar to these, that have about 50 years on them, mine actually have a hold fast that can climb up the handle….they are the ones I mostly use.

Clamped a set of mole grips on them and then pulled the hoses from the engine bay outward.
Not to bad a job really.
New one went in this morning and pipes on quite easily
