I watched that video at least 20 times and was amazed how easy it worked for him. Not the case for me. I finally gave up, left them on, cleaned them and repacked. On a side note the guy in the video was an interesting character. At least here in San Diego he would be.
Did you look for a circlip? You'll have to clean the grease off from the CV.

Looked it over seversl times. They were sparkling clean too.
