I use copper washers and replace all four some times the new filter comes with 1 which I use, one side is the same size as a sump plug washer and the other side are smaller. I use a pair of plumbers pliers to grip the filter and a ring spanner on the bolt doing up the connection making sure it's tight as there is alot of pressure in the fuel system.

The other smaller ones the same size as with the fuel filter I can remember the size but last time I took the one I had with the filter to a local motor factors and they had a box with washers in and they just gave me a few for free which was a result!
