The red calliper is the one that I'm trying to find out what it is and the silver. The new / wrong one (sorry to state the obvious).
Any ideas would be really helpful!

They are looking like the Girling 54 - 256mm (Disc) with a spacing of 8cm (76mm if I could measure accurately!). Struggling to find one, so might just need get a Pagid Euro car parts refurbished.
Do you think its worth looking around for a replacement Girling? - I'm struggling to find one on tinternet.

edit: 88 onwards 16v, with 256mm brakes in case that wasnt obvious! also found on some mk3 golf, lower spec corrado and passat, several models of SEAT etc. just make sure they are for vented discs. some random mk3 got 256mm solid brakes and the calipers off those are no good
