Those Passat wheels are a nice touch there mate, you don't have to spend a fortune on wheels to give it a smart different look. as for your buzzer problems and oil pressure,it might be worth looking at the multiplug which connects to the back of the speedo.I had very strange issues with my electrics and eventually traced it down to that everything perfect now :D

Thanks for the nice comments.
Baller; I'll look into that. The new oil pump has really helped, oil pressure gauge readings are ok now, but the buzzer still goes off.

Had it up on the ramp and here's what I saw:

No rot :O)

Changed the rear polyurethane engine mount to standard, ooo it's so much smoother, and finally stopped the buzzing oil light by replacing the clocks. :O) silence is golden, now I can listen out for the other things that don't sound right!

Have found original-ish Blaupunkt radio, have got new clock surround piece to go in, pipe from petrol tank to filler neck from vw to stop small leak and then rear arch to repair.

Mk1 or MkV ??
MkV looks like an obese relative!!

I am currently trying to remedy a misfire at high revs; Could be one, or a combination of a few things.
  • I am running Audi throttle bodies and a standard warm-up regulator (WUR), so am looking for a standard throttle body or Audi WUR. Anyone got either?
  • New coil (can anyone tell me the correct part number for 1983 GTI? I want to check I have the correct one), leads and plugs fitted so far.
  • Could be timing issue with the KS2 cam too or fuelling mixture.

Can anyone offer advice?

New stereo, clocks and dash surround coming soon.

Has anyone got a set of these that they want to sell?

I will check the part number on my coil tomorrow, quite a lot of the parts in my engine have turned out to be original so you could be in luck!

Quick update; The Golf is tucked away for winter on a SORN.

I changed the throttle body back to standard and have now sorted the misfire problem at high revs. Even considering putting the original cam back in to make it as smooth a drive as possible. And changing the dash clocks sorted the REALLY annoying :banghead: buzzing and constant red light on :D

Hopefully more updates to come soon as I'm hoping for some time off work, and on the Golf :O)

aubrey: did I pm you? if not, yes I am interested in a set of those wheels still.

Pleasant surprise under the rear arch rot was just a bad repair. Metal has been cut out, and nice new metal plate to go back in.

Inner wing looks very fresh, happy with that :O)

Repair for the front panel coming up too.

Well done anyone who can guess what car that in the forefront on the left.

I have loads of parts for sale from 50p in the classified section. It's all gotta go…
