I am currently fitting an ABF from a SEAT ibiza into my MK1.
As its a '98 ibiza it will have an immobilizer, was wondering if I can get around this problem by buying an early mk3 ECU.
Does anyone know if this is possible or is there a lot more then a simply swap.
Thanks

good to have an immobiliser additional layer of security. though you will loose the nice mk1 key, thats the worst bit about having mk3 immobiliser in my book

its probably been deimmobilised, either that or when you look behind the fusebox you'll find the immobiliser box and the key reader, with the old key tapped to the reader coil. if so, just pull it out and keep it!
then you have 2 choices, either get a new mk3 immobiliser key cut to match your locks and fit the chip, or just tuck it up behind the dash. this depends on if the reader coil will actually fit under the mk1 ignition lock housing, iirc its pretty tight fit to the lock so im not so sure it will
