Attaching door drop glass to winder channel securely
So I am finding that when I come to wind the window back down, the metal channel/rubber seal is just pulled clean off the glass and the window stays where it is. I have tried using vice clamps to squeeze the channel tightly on to the glass but it hasn't worked
Anyone got any advice?
Thanks.

Squeeze the channel together using pliers etc, but so you can just about get the glass and rubber in
Soak the channel in car wash shampoo (not corrosive, unlike washing up liquid)
Get a tub of hot water and put the rubber in it, to make it pliable
Fit it all together
Rinse the excess shampoo off with cold water

It's holding enough that the window will go up and down, although the glass can still move about a little in the channel. I don't want to squeeze the clamp down anymore in case i crack the glass… Whether or not it will hold when it gets really cold and the window wants to freeze in place is another thing… maybe cleaning it up and lubricating the guides as described above will be the answer.
cheers

it'll probably start to ease up on its own after a while, shame you fitted it in the winter really as being sat outside for a few weeks in the baking heat probably would have bedded em in pretty fastCode
The door is still inside while I wait on a new main seal to arrive from mk1 autohaus, i'll leave next to a radiator for a bit :D
