Whats your year of registration?
There is no such thing as a Sportline Wolfsburg Edition Cabby.
There is The Sportline and a Wolfsburg Edition, these are seperate models in there own rights.
All the Cabbies were made at the Karmann Factorty in Osnabruk, not ever at the wolfsburg plant.
The sportlines were limited in number around Europe and the UK.
The wolfsberg edition, likewise and was big in the USA.
Just a few Q's
what colour is it?
What year of Reg is it?
Pictures of the car?
Sometimes they do get wrongly registered by the dealers, however I would want to know the history of the car.
You can buy a birth certificate from VW for the car, but you would need the VIN NUMBER etc.
have you cross referenced the VIN NUMBER with the V5, to make sure it's been a Write off, and then been registered under another identity?
put your Reg in the link below and see wahtbit comes up with.

This site was posted up recently it should give you some info, but not really sure what the insurance company will accept. I would ask them for clarification. You can confirm what yours was/is with the birth certificate, but it will take a couple of months.

The only cabriolets available in the last couple of years were sportlines, rivage and clippers, so if you have it's reg and it is a J plate or later, it is red or black, then it is highly likely to be a sportline.
Quartette and GTI were also current models at this time.
As its a import it could be anything.
Pics would pin it down

If it doesn't have this on there normally, or if it should and yours doesn't due to being mis-registered by the dealer, then you might not be able to prove it.
I don't know if those "Birth Certificates" carry and real meaning or value?
