dunno about filling shocks back up either but while you had the springs of you should have changed the inserts, you don't need to buy all of the strut, once spring is off you can un screw the gold coloured cap off the top of the strut then you can pull the shock insert out and stick new ones in
this and the post afterwards are the ones that you need to take notice of
lube the outside of the new insert with a little oil before you put it back into the old strut, stops the insert rattling
I wire brushed my old struts… then sprayed them with hammerite and they looked as good as new
sorry… this one is a little out of focus
I wouldn't re-use old inserts

reason im doing is because 1 insert is faulty..
STRUTS and INSERTS are different…. Struts are where the inserts go in… Inserts are the actual shock absorber..
i have Koni which lower my car..
there shouldnt be gaps like you showed in the pic.. i replaced mine a few weeks ago and there were gaps aswell which i am unhappy about.. i also used mounts from GSF, they look like yours (silver)
are your shocks and springs standard or lowered?
i have now got a new pair of shocks (inserts) to go in, and when i do i am going to get FEBI mounts..
im not a mechanic but have experience with my mechanic when he has done mine.. i advise to use better quality mounts such as FEBI..
if the next time i do mine, hopefully next week i am going to get new FEBI mounts n prey that works for me as i have been going round in circles n alot of hassle..
let us know how you get on.
i have had alot of hassle with these and really want n need it to be spot on nex time i do so i am now looking for FEBI mounts..
also on you pic of the new mount you can see the top end of the insert coming through the mount which is fine, but if you notice on both of yours are on a different level, so the are not identical when you set them up..

Yes i notic the differents and i fix it,
The new mounts still do some noking nosie, and i am kind short in mony now so i cant buy a better one now,
i wonder if the noise is from bad set up…
let me now about the "FEBI mounts" and whare to get tham…. maybe some day…
