whats needed to fit a mk2 16v box in my cabby?
looks like i'll be hanging on to my cabby till the summer, so i'll be changing the knackered gbox at some point.
if i source a mk2 16v or 8v one (which i believe fits) what is actually needed to fit it to my mk1? i've had a look at a mk2 16v box fitted and it all looks different to me, is it just a case of swapping linkages or is there more to it?
its a 2l 8v conversion, with a 3a bottom end, it previously has had a new standard gti clutch with a 16v pressure plate fitted, but thats all knackered due to it dumping its oil over over the clutch.
i have the old clutch which had little wear on it when i removed so can refit that, so just need the box really. i'm thinking hopefully there'll be less miles on the mk2 ones available.
any other advice would be great

Unsure which box you currently have, but you might need to adapt the reversing light wiring too.

i have the standard box that came in the car fitted, its from a 1.8 gti dx engine code.
i may be able to get a mk2 8v box locally, would that be a straight swap ref the driveshaft flanges? or would they need to be changed?
if they do need to be changed, is it just a case of unbolting them or are there any oil seals involved?
thanks again
