Rubbadubdub's Red Mk1 Driver

Hello all,

So after owning my Mk1 for two weeks and getting familiar with it all i decided to make a project thread (well more of a thread to show it off!)

So yes, i had been looking for a mk1 for almost a year and after a long wait was contacted by Pete and Daz (NASTYGRIFF) about a 1.3 3dr tin top they had just brought. Some of you may know them on here as they buy alot of mk1's and basically restore them and sell them on. This sounded like a great idea, so i decided to take the plunge and make the 170 mile journey to view the car. After viewing the car in its rawest form i decided to put a deposit down!

So now i had to wait for them to respray the car, give it a service and get it MOT'd! The next four weeks went incredibly slow for me as i couldn't wait to get my hands on the car, especially after being sent teaser pictures of the car!

Just after the respray.

Waiting for me to come and collect!

As soon as i got in the car to drive home i fell in love! Daz and Pete did a really good job on the car an would highly recommend them, really helpful with everything and the car looked great!

So enough storys and more pictures! I gave it a clean when i got home, and had a little play around with the car with the bumpers off!

back together!

After owning the car for a week i decided it was time to get rid of the manky old seats which were in there and replace them with some GTI grey stripe seats. I purchased these form joe90k, with a set of doorcards and parcel shelf, before i picked up the golf itself, so during the four weeks wait i decided to clean them up a bit!

So now it was time to swap the seats over, which is such an easy job!

Much better!

Now thats where im up to this the car so far! my plans are to ort out the stereo and speakers (nothing chavy!) get some ats classics on it and then see where it goes from there! but so far loving the car and ownership (my first car owned in my name too  :D )

so i shall leave you all with my favourite shot of the car for now

I've always liked the 1.3 driver. They just seem so 'right' somehow. I always think of them as the GT somehow.

It's a shame the interior seats were damaged as those looked again just 'right' . I do like the GTI seats too though.

Also love the wheels and that bit of stretch on the back. Good choice. Again subtle but 'right'. Don't go too low though!

Really nice car mate. You must be rightly proud of it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone  :$

Regarding the seats, yes it was a shame about the seats, they were very grubby and tatty but your right they did "fit" with the image. i Saw a set of re trimmed Tweed seats on here which i thought looked really smart so that may be an option in the future  :)

I wont take her much lower, maybe an inch or two and go from there, i have to watch it as my drive is an awkward shape so i would scrape is i came down too much!

But yes very proud :) finally looking how i wanted her to look!
