mk1 16v project

i bought this mk1 probably about 4-5months ago thinkin that i would like it, but once i bought it and having it off the road i decided that i wanted a new spray job, even though it looks alright on the photo below it actually wernt, it had laquer runs in places etc etc.


once i took it to the bodyshop to get sprayed they pointed out so many things that needed doing to it i.e.

the roof had dents all over the place so i had to find a roof skin from somewhere and after a long struggle in trying to find somewhere that sells them i found out that crazy quiffs do them and it was actually quite cheap aswell.

also once i realised that i could do what i wanted to the car at the bodyshop i decided to go back to the origanl doors( with the origanl door handles) so i had to find them from somewhere

there was a huge crack on the passengers side where who ever had the car before must have put a new cill on it and didnt fit it properly, you can see the crack below



i could go on for hours about the things that were wrong with it that the people at the body shop had found, one of the worst was when they told me that they had to bare metal the whole car because they kept finding little rust spots underneath the paint work  which is appparently quite common with cars of this age. anyway enough of me talking about this these are a few pics of my progress with it at the moment














one of the things that i am struggling to find so much is the scraper seal for the passengers side that allows for the chrome strip. if anyone knows anywhere to get them from or if anyone has one spare please could i have it lol i will pay good money for it cuz they are obselete and that is the only piece i need

this is only the filler primer, they've still gotta flat it yet

just bin round to the bodyshop today to see if they had done anything since last time, came out with a big smile on my face    heres just a few pics

Looks like a lot of work has gone in to that. What body colour are you going for? I assume it's gonna be different to the roof?

yeah the body colour is gonna be silver, i wud of liked the whole car to be black but that wud of meant takin the egine out and spraying the engine bay, which wud of bin to much hasle and money for me at the mo cuz im trying to get it ready for run to the sun this year

went to the shop today, its ready for the final coats  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:  , this is the first time ive seen it since they have had it with the doors back on it.








its getting so frustrating now cuz i just wanna drive it lol

It's nearing the end though! When does the silver go on?
