as for piston clockwise to wind back in, anti to unwind same as a normal screw
you're missing the dust boots so you'll want to fit some plus may as well do piston seals while apart. ignore me if that was just pic for reference

Thanks mate. I had taken all boots off for cleaning when I took the picture. If the pads were too thick would they just not fit in cos the ones I got were a tight fit to push the caliper back on?
