Windscreen wipers working in reverse HELP

Hi all, got my MOT in the morning and have just realised that my wipers are working backwards. I have fitted a mk3 wiper motor. Anyone know how to make them go the right way?

When you say working backwards do you mean wiping the wrong way on the windscreen? If so you can move the bracket/arm attached to the spline on the motor or if the motor is running backwards make sure the wires are the right way around, the earth and live.

Yeah, from parked they are wiping down towards the bonnet then returning to 'parked'. I'm thinking of putting the wipers in the upright position for now and figuring it out later

Is it not just a case of moving the crank arm  180 degrees on the motor? I'm trying to think what the mechanism looks like and work it out in my head but i've had a couple of beers!!

Could well be mate, I'm running out of time now though MOT is at 11 in the morning lol. Is it illegal to drive with the wiper arm in front of you? as I'm thinking of parking them at the top and wipe down over for now haha

The actual direction of the motor doesn't matter because the mechanism is turning a rotary motion into a reciprocating one.  For example if you turn your engine crankshaft backwards the pistions still go up and down and look the same. All it must be is the relationship between the motor stop position and the crank arm position. I hope I'm right or I'll look like a right dick!

I'll try moving the crank arm in the morning mate. If it doesn't work I won't say anything…. promise!!

You need to take it to a lenient mot station if your worried.

My favourite just flashes the lights against a wall and checks the radio works. The brake test is a pass if you don't over shoot the garage entrance as you arrive!
