Old head unit help please

Post

Hi guys,

I've got an old head unit I want to put into my mk1 but I don't have the original leads that go with it, I'm hoping there is a way to wire up more than 2 speakers from the old style sockets? If not does anyone know where I can get the plugs/ speakers from?

this is the back of the head unit:

You can certainly get new replacement cables like that but I can't tell you where.
Hopefully someone will see this post and point you in the right direction.

They are out there somewhere!

I have put the original blaupunkt radio back in my car but never wired it up as its only LW/MW, however just ordered a blanking plate to put in its place, when I take old radio out I will have a look to see if the wiring still in there with the old connectors if you don't find any in meantime.

Just taken radio out but no wiring left, however did find one old connector in my tool box, but not much use unless anyone else has another spare. I used to have for speakers out of the two connectors but you only end up with being able to adjust fade or balance not both.

You can buy those connectors original with about 10 inches of cable and you just join them to make whatever length you need to the speakers.

I bought mine about three years ago but a word of warning.
You could be charged from €20 per piece or as I was about €6 for a pair, plus postage!

If I could find the time between now and my road trip to Wörthersee next week but I doubt it, I'd try to see where I bought them.
So try to remind me after the 17th of May if you like.
