Hi guys!

Bit of a weird one, was putting a new set of clocks in and when i first put them in all lights flashed ie oil battery etc. But after disconnecing them to put light bulbs in and putting them back in its all dead….

Any ideas? I have no idea whats gone wrong. Any feedback or thoughts would b great!

Thanks,

Did you leave the battery connected whilst you were doing it? Check fuses first would be my thing, not got my Haynes with me so can't remember which number!

After that, the long white plug in the bottom corner of the clocks has a power feed to it, from memory it's wire no1 - I could be wrong - but I'm sure it's the wire at one end or the other of the plug. Check you've got 12v getting to it with the ignition on.

the perm live fuse is #3, ignition isnt fused its a black wire straight off the ignition switch pin 15.

check all the terminals are clean and straight, carefully bend any that are squashed with a pick or similar (watch out for the red wire its perm live, pull the fuse before you poke at it!)

check the brown pin has continuity to ground, if it was/is an MFA cluster it will earth to the side of the head brown/white wire with ring terminal. if non-MFA then it earths in with the main dash harness

Perfect, i will check fuse #3 this evening.

Brilliant thanks John. Right its non-MFA so will take a look at the brown pin to ensure continuity.

Any other things you'd say i should pay attention to?

Thanks,

look at the clock plug, sometimes the plastic surround goes missing which means its a bit fiddly to get the pcb foil lined up when plugging in, and check the brass contacts on the pcb foil to make sure not all worn away

Hi guys!

Long story short i ended up buying a new set of clocks. Tried them in today all seems fine. However, the oil pressure light stays on no matter what… any ideas on why this might be? I know i have oil because i did a full service on it over the past weekend.

Thanks,

Jeevs
