Battery warning light stays on

Evening all,

After a little help, since ABF'ing my mk1 the battery light in the clocks reamins on when being driven, i've now done a few hundred miles on it with this unchaging so it's not causing any running issues, would rather get it sorted however!

Is this something any one else has experienced? Checked with a multimeter and alternator is working fine, i have the original non-rev counter clocks but i tried a gti set and the rev counter worked fine however the battery light stayed on with these clocks as well, rather confused as to what the problem may be!

start with the blue wire near the battery +, where is it running to? it should go straight to the alternator, its a 2 pin plug if you have the abf alternator on there. if it all looks ok disconnect the plug and the battery light should go out, if it doesnt the blue wire is shorted out somewhere. if it does go out the alternator is to blame, assuming i you have the wire on the right pin

John, thank you as ever for you reply. Wire wasn't holdong on by much so stripped back, new terminal on and works fine, seems a bit odd having no lights on the dash while driving now as I was so used to it  

easy and cheap fix then, just what we like
