1.1 loom with 1.5 JB engine - Oil light stays on

Post

Hi,

My car is a 1.1 with a 1.5 JB engine fitted. When the ignition is on the oil light doesnt come on but stays on when the engine is running. The oil sensor I have connected is the white high pressure sensor on the oil filter. Connected with a blue/black wire if I remember correctly. I cant seem to find a wire to connect the low pressure sensor on the head though. If I connect the wire from the sensor on the oil filter to the head the light doesnt come on at all. So my questions are:

1. Why is the oil light staying on / is it connected properly
2. Why is there no wire for the sensor on the head? Could this be because the 1.1 loom wasnt fitted with one?
3. Does the sensor on the head need to be connected for the oil light to work correct
4. I assume when working correctly the oil light should come on with the ignition and go out when the engine is running. Is that correct?

Thanks.

earlier cars only have 1 pressure switch wire, but look behind the fusebox for a yellow wire to the engine loom with no home.

have you changed either the engine loom, dash loom or clocks?

Mines an 81 S2 with an oil warning light no guage. Engine loom, dash loom and clocks are all original. I think I've got this sorted now. I replaced the sensor on the oil filter housing with a new 1.8 bar sensor. The oil light now comes on with the ignition and goes off when the engine is running. Couldn't find a wire for the senor on the head so have left this not connected.
