Head rest guide removal

Hello All,

I do have reupholstered seats in my recently bought car but the upholsterer put in the old - damaged - head rest guides

I like to change the guides to new ones

Is it possible to cut of the tops of those guides and push the remainings THROUGH so they fall out at the bottom and don't have to strip the entire upholstery ?

i dont see why that wouldnt work, but it would take something seriously sharp to cut thru the plastic and I really wouldnt want to risk it with reupholsterd seats! stripping the fabric enough to get the guides changed isnt tooooo bad
