Thanks for the link, I needed to insure new Rivage.

Cheapest quote was £95 fully comp ( 9 years no claims)

I have a MGB Roadster which I insure via Lancasters the online quote for Rivage came in from them at £110 (9yrs also) from the site. I'm not using MG so was going to cancel and use the 9 plus year no claims

I phoned though them (Lancasters) as  wanted to add wife and cancel MG. Quote was £120 (with no, no claims) + £15 for ageed valuation. They give me 6 years no claims even though didn't cancel and transfer from the MG policy. They also got me free breakdown cover etc.
Having the quote from online gave a bit bargaining, so thanks again.

Also just used it and Lancaster came out top for me - £108 full comp with zero no claims as they are all on the rest of the fleet. Pretty please with that - but you know you're getting old when your insurance is half your road tax!!

Y plate Mk1 GTI
65 plate 430d - newest addition
52 plate VW Bora - daily hack [255k]
15 plate 330d Touring - wife's car

Just tried this, online cheapest was £109. Thats not much different from what i pay at the moment. Funny thing was i am with Heritage at the moment and they would not quote me on line but i could ring them. Insurance not due till December but it was worth a try.

Still £700 for me! Will just have to grin and bear it until a few more years experience.

700 might not be that bad depending on how old you are, i'm over 50 (ouch) so mines a bit cheaper. I do not think experience has anything to do with it these days, age is the big thing, insurance will find any excuse to get that extra few hundred pounds out of you.

Bit of a clunky site to use, but excellent quotes at the end.

Saved me a load of time doing it this way rather than ringing up, explaining all the mods and having to repeat it each time you rang a different company.

All in for £80, far better than the renewal I had of £350+ with the same underwriters.

Will def use this when it comes round to insurance time, if its not already can this be a sticky at the top of the insurance section ?

Rubbish!!!

Out of 7 providers 5 refused to quote.
The 2 that did were both over £550.00.

Keith Michael's gave me a fair quote better than Adrian flux and performance direct and they take on young drivers and mods

Out of curiosity I just used the link in the first post to see what it would cost to insure my tastefully upgraded mk1 (Standard original body with 1900cc Engine, Koni Coil overs, Big Brakes, superspint full system, Recaro's with matching rears etc….) without using my no claims with a limited mileage of 3000 but to include commuting to work and social domestic and pleasure. An excellent result of just £99.78 from Barry Grainger a company I hadn't heard of before. If I can get some free time to finish off a few minor jobs then I'll be taking them up on this offer. Thanks Hairyarse

Interesting…  What Am I declaring that means all but FluxDirect say they can't quote over the web?!?!?

FluxDirect was the only one that returned a price, but it was a good one - £119 with everything declared (or as much as you can via the check boxes) and agreed value at £5k (optimistic look into the future…)

Interesting indeed. As it turned out they cancelled my policy on me with no explaination why

I have now been on the phone for three days almost trying to sort out insurance with lancaster again. I had a quote for £126 initially but couldnt pay straight away so I called the next day to retrieve the quote, I then had to start a new one and they said they'd call back once they spoken to the under writers, I waited all day for a call and nothing. I am now sitting here on day 3 of trying to sort this out, I've now waited 4 hours and no phone call. This has got to be one of the most frustrating experiences I've had regarding insurance. Grrrrrrrrrrr O_o

LHD 74 1500 3 door declared alloy wheels and lowered suspension 1000 miles a year.  Vehicle worth £5000.   (42 years old clean licence)  £83

or 10000 miles £105

Happy with that as thought LHD and the alloys/lowering might jack it up.  (was still £83 with it all stock)

Only thing is a 1974 3 door 1500 does not seem to exist on there choices. (only 5 door)O_o
