The 'UNOFFICIAL' Road Trip Wörthersee 2015.

'Unsupported', so who's up for it?

Now The 'UNOFFICIAL' Road Trip Wörthersee 2015.

THE 2015 ROAD TRIP STARTS HALF WAY DOWN PAGE 17.
But do look through the other pages for lots of info and a fare few goods laughs along the way.
So the old post starts from the next sentence.

As many of you know the club had been planning a while back this trip which for very good reasons will not take place as an Official Club event.
http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&type=misc&id=mk1-golf-chat_2%2Fwothersee-2014
Please use the old link for reference only (there's some useful Info in there)!

Our Club Chairman 'Dano' has kindly agreed to let us use the forum as a communication medium for an 'UNOFFICIAL' Road Trip Wörthersee 2014.  :ocf_emoticons__notworthy:
Let's be very clear here from the start. There is no Club involvement what so ever or support, no planning, booking this or that, we are on our own!
But hopefully we are all Adults.

Now I've gone down the old post and pulled all the names out that showed interest in one way or another.
The old post did receive a good deal of interest, so lets see how we get on without Mum or Dad holding our hand!
Remember when you rode your bike for the first time without 'Stabilizers'?  O_o

This list in no way means commitment.

Names.
golfcabrio,Lhasadearms, Vwbug, Smudger, Funk-star, Dainish, R32GUY, Baggie82, Mk1jim, Golf1980, Adi3390, BigandDaft, Taffygoat, Arnoldlog, Yomp, Bigbadchris, Sp8y, Swere, Project1, Ollie_d, Hairyarse, Arnoldlog, Addicted, GGIFA, Karmanndunc, JettyJ, Bazmk1, Massbad69, Stretch, Sparkstu

This is the No.1 event in the World of its kind and I for one am up for it.

One final thing before we kick this off.
I am not going to have the time to become some sort of organizer for this.
Like everyone else I will make my own plans (slightly easier for me as it's just down the road so to speak) but I will use the new post to share information and please don't ask me to start translating German into English etc… Or book anything. Trust me, you don't!
Also I've never been there only know where it is thanks to Google Maps.

It should be held at the end of May next year, so the weather could be just perfect!
So get your planning caps on, I'm sure if we put a bit of effort in we could have a few cars there and have one heck of a good time into the bargain.
I'm sure small numbers can team up, two here and three of four there and so on.

Post your ideas and plans here and lets see how we do!

The actual show dates for 2014 are the 28th May until 31st May.

From talking to folk who've been before its best to go the week or even 2 weeks before the show.

Yes those are the official dates.
I do agree with going at least a week before.
I would suggest getting away from there at least two days before the main event kicks off!

Been looking forward to this.

The my aim is to get the  Ferry from Newcastle overnight on the 25th to Amsterdam arrive Worthersee area on 27th. Return to Amsterdam for overnight Ferry  Tues 3rd.

Ferry Cost -  Car + two (inside cabin)  £408 return DFDS Seaways

This only takes 7 days out of my annual holiday allowance.

Amsterdam - Worthersee approx. 750 miles would like to do this in easy bites of around 380 miles a day quite happy to arrive on the 28th in Worthersee depending on how the car is running..

The 500+ mile drive to Dover is not on for me.

Would anyone else be interested in joining up for this route or rendezvous somewhere on the road down to Worthersee.

Graham

I hear you my friend, if I could afford two weeks off I'd stay longer.
Daughters Wedding next summer back home, going to cost a packet!

Fuel costs will be the same.  So go for one week and tell yourself your saving money on the second!

no but I've spent time in that part of holland before, and its less driving from the uk, although similar cost i guess.
I'll look into it when I get home, work out which i want to do and look at some costs too.
