My '83 Mk1 Gti

Post

Hi all, this is my Mk1 I picked up yesterday.
I always fancied a Mk1 but the couple I went to see were rotting sheds that the owners still thought were worth top money.
That put me off an d I thought more more about them for years until I saw this one for sale on Facebook.
It was up for one of those bonus ball raffles at £80 per ticket, I thought why not I always fancied one.

Well one bonus ball #43 later here is my £80 Mk1 .
I am still trying to figure out the full spec of it as the last owner (8 years) just did the paintwork on it, all mechanicals were done by the owner previous.
It's a 2.0 16v 9a engine with machined Pistons, g60 fly wheel and vr6 clutch converted to cable shift box, g60 front brakes and mk2 gti rear brakes,
mega squirt ecu in glove box, car has also been converted to efi and garret t3 turbo.
It has some bits I want to tidy up, mainly wiring not being anything like as OEM as I want it to be.
The grill and wiper need binned asap.
And something needs to be done with center console not fitting the gearshift assembly.

Anyway here are some pics, any comments good or bad please feel free.

I tried my Rm's on it off my Mk2 and the track seems a little wider on the front than the rear, is this a side effect of the G60 setup on the front or are they all like this?

Welcome mate and what a bargain £80 looks really nice 😃😃

One thing I would change though are the side decal stickers they are on up side down
