my 83 daily driver.

So had the car a week now and trying to decide which direction to go with it as it's just not fully doing it for me now. The engine is mega but is let down by the body work although described as perfect and found out not after driving 300 miles to collect, seller was a ass but should have known this with the tyres being fit the wrong way round.


Engine as below:
 

• Fully rebuilt top end and bottom end
• Lightened and balanced crank, rods, pistons, flywheel etc
• Upgraded valve springs
• Black diamond uprated clutch and bearing
• Reconditioned gearbox
• Newman high lift camshafts & adjustable vernier pulley
• Remapped, all set up on the dyno by TSR Performance in Somerset.
• K&N 57i kit,
• Full straight through Milltek stainless exhaust system
• Gas flowed cylinder head, ported and polished inlet manifold and throttle body.

Car goes like stink and got it in body shop at weekend to address the sellers lies but not sure on how it looks now. For anyone on here that saw my cabby you know I like em super super low but this is going to be my daily ride so do I leave ride hight as it is and space wheels out or drop another inch?


As I like a nice classic aircooled look I thought about putting a nice bit of chrome on the car and maybe some red bands on the tyres???

I like to listen to other peoples ideas so please come up with suggestions as always good to get opinions and as I go along with the car will do a proper build thread.









 

Spent a bit of time today and set up the gear linkage and now shifts perfect so very happy. Next step in my mates paint shop to sort the crusty corners and a full coating to the underside.

Great weekend on the car. All lower rust now cured and sealed then stone chipped. Arch trims fit, doors lined up and washer jets replaced. Next week will lower it an inch or two more and will then start to look a bit more how I would like it to!

Looks Nice m8, looking for a ABF for mine with similar mods but running jenvey ITB's ashley exhaust stainless system with 020 box.

Gave the car a full polish today and very happy with the results, looks Mega!

Started stripping the red trim today, took me 2 hours just to do the top section but should be worth it when finished!

Just a couple of small editions as waiting for a load of bits to come in post but my petrol cap surround turned up today and think it looks good and finished off polishing the grill

New arrivals came today thanks to Pazwaa!!

New trim on the back with a hint of aircooled!

Very busy day today. Fit new suspension but had to roll the arches (used a steel bar). Also fit my new pillar mount aerial and think it looks a treat (another hint of aircooled)!

Great subtle mods and details, looks like the lad in the background is eyeing up the car ready for a bit of joy riding !
