Oh wow, what a find Jonathan!! Not surprised you're a tad chuffed!

Great to see it start, what condition are the seats in?

thanks smudger - I will keep the updates coming no worries.

Hairyarse - yes super chuffed with this. generally looks in not to bad but I am sure there will be some hidden problems that I havn't found yet.

Re the seats - Passenger and rear bench are in reasonable shape, usual wear with a few rips. Driver seat bottom however is completely shot. I've been trying to source some OEM fabric for a full re-trim but this 'cognac houndstooth' seams impossible to find NOS or even close to OEM. It has a tan and gold thread in it with black (most I have found are only light brown and black i.e. not the two tone like mine).

It seemed to be only very limited run time in production - the 75 brochure I have shows it (along with black& white; and green& black houndstooth) but it was not as a UK option - in my other early 76 brochure it is an option in the UK, and then a later 76 brochure (pdf. on this site I found) it has completely gone… all indications are that it will be very difficult to find. O_o

Any help/contacts that may be able to help source would be much appreciated !! I am now contemplating speaking to a local weaving firm to see if they could recreate it.

Cheers

That's a shame - it's why I asked as knew it would be a tall order to find the fabric. It would be great if you could!

thanks ivortheengine , yes it will be a great project. Agree on the lego stuff - my better half couldn't believe how much fun it was!

Yea I saw the other post - sounds like it could be a cool trip - obviously my mk1 won't be finished by then - is there a restriction that only mk1's can do the road trip?
