1.8t conversion and restoration of my 91 Clipper

This is going to take a while

Hello,

I have been a member of the club for quite a while now, and I have had my Golf for about seven years. I have kept it going and used it as my daily driver for 90% of the time, however a slipping clutch and a 1.5 hour each way commute to work meant that last year I took the Golf off the road. Since then it has been gathering dust at my mate's lock up, waiting for the day when I/we finally sort it out, and it appears the time has finally come!

This won't be a quick project as I can only work on the car at the weekend and I'm not the richest of people but I'm hoping to have the car more or less completed before it gets really cold again, fingers crossed.

The plan so far is to strip the car and respray it, drop a 1.8t in it, replace all the interior and buy some nice wheels (my mate has had away with it's original BBS haha). Currently I have a full dog tooth interior including seats and door cards for sale, a complete 1.8 carb engine with Weber and gear box, front and rear small plastic bumpers, and a front grill with yellow wrapped spot lights for sale - I will put these in the relevant for sale sections, just thought it's worth mentioning here too.

Below are some pictures of the car in the corner of the lock up, hopefully we can move it in to some more space soon but beggars can't be choosers! The strip down will commence next weekend.

Really struggling with this Photobucket thing but I will get something uploaded shortly

Somehow just managed to post an empty reply though I had typed the body text and attached the photographs haha :)I'll try again…

Did some more work stripping the Golf down over the past few days, some pictures of the progress made below. Next is to roll the arches and then remove the engine, then strip the rest of the car, build a dolly for it, prep it and spray it. Hopefully will be able to free up some more space in the lock up soon but I am ultra grateful for the corner that my mate has given up for me. Also developing quite a soft spot for the 924 you can just see in the background.

Hopefully we have a few more pictures in a couple of weeks.
