New mk1 owner future 20v project

Hi i'm ibs just joined the forum after finally purchasing a 1982 Golf C. It only took me a year to find the right one which wasn't getting eaten alive by rust or majorly over priced like some of the ones that have been up for sale. Very happy with my purchase and the long term plans for it are a 20v conversion. I have kept an Audi A3 1.8t sport Quattro for the last 5 years waiting for this project.

Can anyone advise if engine code AJQ would be suitable enough for this? A quick search didn't bring up much. The only reason I kept the A3 for so long is because it has some tasty engine mods including a Garrett T28 Hybrid turbo.

Hi and welcome to the club.

I do not know much about these engines, I am more old school with a 16V Supercharged engine :-)
