Mk1 GTI G60 Campaign

Afternoon all, thought i would share my car.

Bought the car August 2014, drove it once and then looked for someone decent to carry out the required works i needed. It took me 5 months to identify the best person for the job after being let down by a number of people.

Got the car back last Friday and was pleased with the outcome, it has fairly low mileage at 104000 and was in long term ownership before i purchased.

Spec as follows, GTI G60 engine, gearbox and brakes running green top injectors with a charge cooler system and oil cooler.

Supercharger has been uprated and BHP is around the 220 mark with lots of nice torque, everything else on the car has been refurbished from steering and suspension components through to brakes, body and trim.

Most of the car is original though over than different springs, 15" P's instead of 14 for the bigger brakes and a Audi tilt and slide sunroof.

i've put thousands of pounds into making this a good 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg 2015-12-07 15.27.46.jpg reliable fast hatch and i hope you enjoy the pictures. there are a few little jobs which still need doing but all in all a great car to add my collection.

Very nice a real stealth car! Engine bay looks particularly neat.

Would be interested in seeing the power/ torque curve for this setup, did you get her rolling roaded?
What has been done to the motor ?

Very nice tidy build indeed.

Cheers,
Ade

thanks for the positive comments, not had her on a rolling road yet, any recommendations in the herts area for this service?

Ive had a few little niggles which are being sorted. Interior is now finished. new fuel tank is going in as the old tank had a slight leak..

Car will then be ready to attend some local meets.

May I ask who did you eventually trust to do the brake/engine/suspension work please?

2 tintops.
3 cabbies, 1 with G60 power, just for fun.
Volvo T5, just for fun.
3.1Ltr V6 Dutton Leggera, just for fun.
Renault 5 GT Turbo, just a money pit!
Several boring cars, just no fun!

Thanks again for the nice words, I bought my first mk1 Gti 20 years ago, I then bought a mk2 g60 from Germany in 1994. Always loved the drive of the g60 and looks of the mk1 so thought I would marry the two together! Work was carried out by john Mitchell at JMR. HE knows G60s inside out. He has a couple of issues to sort but overall he's done a good job. I will get some detailed pics in the next couple of weeks.

I really wanted a full OEM engine bay as I wanted the car to look as original as possible.
