Everything Meg's do is the brilliant. Autogloup isn't as good as it's cracked up to be.

Yup, I've used Megs stuff by hand with decent results, it's a good place to start and they have a lot of different consumer level abrasives depending on how bad your paint is.

Auto Glym Super Resin Polish is 100% filler, no abrasives so won't take care of scratches permanently.

I sometimes use Mer polish with good results, unless you get it on to your trim then you need a trigger spray on jet to wash it off or it leaves a chalky residue.

I was at the car boot the other day and saw this polish in a plain white bottle
with a computer printed lable on it  which said "carnauba high content polish".
the guy on the stall said it was some stuff he got from a supplier who used to sell to the high end of the car market dealers but he went bust.

this 1ltr bottle cost me ?4 so this weekend i tried it "Oh my god" its better than Maguires which i have to say i have always used.

if i get chance next week im buying another bottle or 2 :D

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

You definitely will come out skint if you pay halfords prices for this stuff! I reckon they're a good ?2 more than other suppliers. :banghead:

Try http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/ or http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/

Both cheaper than Halfords and really quick delivery :)

At the moment, I only use Mer product, which gives a pretty nice deep shine

I'd be interested in other stuff tho, as Mer doesn't do rubber, or bumpers/grilles etc.

Dodo Juice hard wax range

http://www.dodojuice.com/dodo-juice-range.html

The hard wax, has a mix of Carnauba and Montan wax (the dark purple haze does anyway) you apply it by hand, and its the next step up from Retail Meguires and Autoglym.

Dodo Juice is not cheap, but i have had a hard wax tub for about 3 years now and less than half way through it.

I'll have to say meguiars..

never used it myself - cars aret good enough — yet

but meguiars are having a trade stall at this years show, offering up a raffle prize and sponsoring an award… So i best be nice… lol

But speaking to people and seeing results, their products do seem to be the best..

Do you mean you need a cleaner for this stuff?

I manage to get this shine with one application of Mer:

but you can only apply Mer to metalwork and glass, it doesn't clean rubber nor plastic, so yeah, I need recommendations on cleaner for the grey bumpers and the grilles/side trims etc…

Thank you very much for Info
Maybe able to buy some Mk1 Ownersclub gear now

The dodojuice  wax is Good also, I have seen it being applied,

But didnt like the idea of rubbing on to your hands and applying without use of cloth or something,
comes in a Soft and a Hard wax and is expensive but lasts for months, the tub will last you years!!!

Shoe polish also contains Montan wax due to its dark colour.

Re: applying with your hands
Applying with you hands makes if go alot further TBH, due to the cloth  absorbing 75% of the wax or liquid wax.  Also if you feel slight grit on the paint you will stop, however if you use a cloth or applicator pad you can't feel a thing, so compound the swirls with more.

You look a bit of an idiot rubbing a tub with your finger tips and rubbing it on the paint work, but its a much better way to apply any wax.

Also a Clay bar are perfect for removing the rubbish that builds up on the paint over time.

Ah ok. An all purpose cleaner will probably do, you could use a paintbrush to agitate it, then leave it to dwell for a bit. I've used Bilt Hamber Surfex HD which is excellent, and I've read good things about Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner and Autosmart G101, but I've not tried either.

They you can just use a trim dressing to make them nice and shiny - there are loads of these about, most people like Auto Glym, Meguiars, Poorboys etc will do one.

Mer probably do something that could be used, but I don't know their products at all  :dontknow:
