home made swamp cooler

Has anyone ever thought about making a swamp cooler using ducting parts, if so can I take a look please?
think I might have a go and see what I come up with!

May be something to look like this or even to use a stainless bin or something like that.

Found this old steel bin at work and could be the perfect starting point!

Came out OK!

Probably a silly question mate but what does it do? I've never seen one before 😳

It's called an evaporation cooler and in the days before air conditioning in America they used these. The idea is you put a water soaked sponge inside it and as the air passes over it the water evaporates and cools the air like having air con and a cool looking accessory!

Been a while since I did anything with the cooler I started to make but spent a bit of time getting it smoothed out and painted.

Finished, apart from a window rod!!

And on the car

That really does look quality.  I bet you soon get fed up with being asked what on earth it is though!

Ha I know, people think iv lost the plot.

Does the window being 1/4 open not let enough cool air in without the cooler being in place, Or am i missing something?

Yes your missing something lol. The tube is not just for pushing air in, it has a spong inside that holds water that evaporates and cools the air a bit like air conditioning and you can even fill it with ice to make it extra cool.
