Bumper confusion

Hi all…I've been offered a NOS rear bumper bumper with chrome trim and told it's black. Ive checked and can't find that this bumper came in black,only gray..Is this correct?  If so can I get it painted black like the factory look?.

I know the part number ending 01C is for black but this one ends with the letter A

Jerry, I'm pretty certain that mellrig 's E plate cabby has black bumpers with chrome on them and it's a standard car. 

the factory big bumpers (pre clipper kit) are actually very dark grey when new, but could be mistaken for black.

if its a NOS bumper then it will be the colour it should be put it that way

ah my bad, they came in grey and black! if you can find a number on the cover it will be 01c at the end for black or 78w for dark grey

VW classic are actually doing these again in GTI/GTD/LX black 01C code. front:

the one with A on the end is a CL or C front bumper, i cant find a rear with an A number only N

Thanks rubjonny… The ones at classic parts are repo's as originals are no longer available…..
The code on the one I am after is 417 A…. This will be a CL or C but just want to confirm that it's black and not anthracite grey as I know there is a lighter grey with the chrome trim.. Hopefully this is not confusing..

base part 417a is listed for CL/GL as you say, however there is also a colour code for this one 78W for dark grey which is GLI and GX.

who knew bumpers were so complicated!

Black/chrome were fitted to GTi cabrio, grey/chrome fitted to GLi, GLS, GX, GL, CL, LS, LX, L

Thanks rubjonny and Dubboy, I think you've worked it out now……just wanted to get a second opinion even though the code doesn't state any colour.
just have to track down the front now..
