Reference to the title of the post, "What sounds has everyone got?"

Well the morning after a really good Curry and a face load of beer it's sounds like  O_o
Ok I won't take you there, so here's my hardware setup in mine.

A bit like Chickens teeth to find but I'm well happy!

For a set like mine, you may have to pay some serious money though.  :o

Reference the post above mine.
A good mate of my Son holds the world record for the loudest 'Car Stereo System'.
I've only heard it when he has it wound right down and that's still insane!  :ocf_emoticons__eusa_doh:

Hi, I have recently done a build that grew and grew over two years to become something more than I ever imagined I would have in a car.. Are you asking just out of interest what people have or are you trying to get a few ideas for what stuff to buy or what you can do to improve the sound?.. The reason I ask is that although you will hear a difference in sound quality as you spend more money, the real improvements in sound come from the installation.

If you are after a good quality head unit with retro looks and plenty of flexibility for improving the system with amps etc etc, take a look at the Pioneer DEH-P77MP. It has 6v pre outs for front left and right, rear left and right and sub.. 6v is a high voltage for a pre out, in short, better, clearer sound as the signal requires less amplification so remains cleaner. It also has a basic eq and Burr Brown dacs. Again, for those who don't know, Burr Brown make excellent d/a converters. You will find a good used one for around £100 on ebay and the sound is really really nice for an all in one head unit (and by that I mean the sound processor, internal amps are all within the head unit itself. Some higher quality sets need an external processor and amps to even produce sound)

If you are any good at woodworking, I would suggest 7mm birch ply door cards although you will need to route where the door handle fits and also recess where the poppers go. But the increased rigidity and density combined with dynomatting will give you real noticeable results. Sound quality is lost a hell of a lot easier than it is added and reducing the loss is much more cost effective than increasing the quality at source..

I am prone to waffling on about car audio because its something I have a passion for. If you want to talk about where you are wanting to go with your ice upgrade, then by all means ask..

Just replaced a dying 1992 Blaupunkt Frankfurt in the GTI with this period Paris radio cassette. On trying to set it up discovered one of the original looking Pioneer front speakers was also almost dead so replaced with some cheapy JVCs. Rears are JBLs installed when I restored the car back in 2000/2001.

The sound quality is surprisingly good for 30 year old kit and non specialist 4x6 speaker setup, although I think the tape head needs cleaning when I can find my old Allsop tape cleaner…..
