Just spent the last 30 mins trying to screw my injectors in to place. I. Am. A. Newb.

I had a broken braided fuel line and got a replacement. I spent maybe an hour fiddling trying to get a a spanner in behind the rocker cover to grip on the fuel injector whilst trying to unscrew the fuel hose with another. I then tried to tighten the injector back on for another 30 mins before giving up and deciding to do some research. It was then I learnt the bloody injectors arent screwed into anything - I could have just pulled them out and taken the hose off in 2 minutes with the injector free of the engine. I could have been done in 10 mins! I thought they were like spark plugs; screwed into the block!

Lesson learnt: do research before doing anything!

Same thing happened to me yesterday, serviced my wife's Ford Figo (for the 1st time), trying to figure out how to remove the engine cover/air filter housing. The 2 x 10mm bolts on the front were obvious, less obvious was what was holding it in place at the back. After lots of swearing and trying to get my big hand into a very small space I gave up and decided to ask my friend Google for advice. Advice was to pull the cover firmly (very firmly) upwards and what do you know, it worked and nothing broke, was held in place by two bulbous pins going into two tight rubber bushes. Should have asked sooner…
