Anyone running scala/snowflake alloys on their MK1?

scala alloys

Just got a bargain set of 14 inch scala alloys to go with my collection for £31.(without tyres) They need a refurb but all nice and straight. I am thinking of refurbishing them myself. Would like to polish the front s and paint the rest. I have a Mars red mk1. I have seen the scalas painted in Paproka red. Do you recon this shade would look odd with Mars red and I am best going with black? I can not seem to find any tintop Mk1's rocking the scalas! images.jpg

Don't think the different reds will look correct. USA Rabbits came with these, look good in black and silver.

thanks guys. That's confirmed it. The black and silver on the red looks great. I like to change wheels ever so often so now have a choice of the Scala, Pirelli P slots, Ats cups  and standard tarantula alloys! Well, if women can change their shoes dependant on their moods then so can I!

Here's mine!

These wheels are actually on my '80 cabriolet at the moment, and the 5-door has gone back to steels.

These are on mine at the moment, but I'm taking them off as they're pretty rough when you get close up - the diamond cut bits are very corroded.

TeeTee did you have them diamond cut or sprayed silver? I may opt to spray mine if I feel the wheels can not be polished from a basic orbital sander at home. Anyone know the paint codes if I go down that route. Chuffed I got them for £31 and tyres are already off ready for a refurb

I haven't done anything to them. I'm planning to swap the tyres onto a set of 14" BBS RAs I had lying about, which I've repainted myself. I'm trying to keep costs down. :(

The original finish on the scalas is diamond cut with the black bits painted and then I presume a lacquer topcoat. They're actually very much like modern alloys. I imagine it would be pretty costly to have them refurbished as original, but it might be possible to polish the silver bits then paint the rest.
