Advice from fellow G60 owners

Guys something's been bothering me.

Every time I go out to the garage it stinks of fuel, does deleting the boost return system mean remaining fuel vapour escapes from the throttle body as this remains open at idle / when the engine is off?

The complete fuel system is new including tank, lines and components. The smell is coming from the throttle body area and can't see any leaks.

If anybody else has experienced this please let me know.

Thanks

Rich

Mine never stank of fuel, but I did have the boost return fitted.
However there should not be any fuel in the throttle body, just compressed air.
Sounds like you have a fuel leak in the bay somewhere

Cheers,
Ade

Hi Ade,

I didn't say fuel in the throttle body :). The injectors sit in the inlet ports of the head. With the throttle body open at idle / with the engine off fuel vapour must feed back.

But you're right there must be a leak as the smell is too strong for just that. Will give it a good once over.

Cheers

Rich.

using original g60 rubber fuel pipes? they're probably all cracked at the ends. you can sometimes get a couple more years life out of them by snipping 5-10mm off the ends to get to nice uncracked pipe

Hi John every aspect of the fuel system is brand new so it's probably me not tightening a clip properly.
