Sump pan

Audi 3a block,the sump pan is a completely different shape to the DX pan,but is it alright to use a dx pan or is it better to use the 3a pan ?

dx pan will swap, as will anything else that differs. usually the oil filter housing wants changing as well. you may have to put a dx oil pickup on the pump, not 100% if the 3a one is different
